PARP-Inhibitor
A type of targeted therapyTargeted Therapy This is the term given to types of cancer treatments that aim to target only the cancer cells while having no effects on the normal cells in the body. They work because cancer cells have certain gene mutations that mean they have different characteristics than normal cells, which allows treatments to be developed that only target these changes. These oral (swallowed) drugs block the PARP enzyme in cancer cells. This keeps the cancer cells from repairing damage to their DNA that eventually destroys the affected cells.
